Spain – Stevie Wonder in London 2008

Picture1SPAIN was written by Chick Corea based on Joaquin Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, it was first released by Chick Corea and Return to Forever in 1973. It is likely Corea’s most recognized piece then considered as a jazz standard. A version with lyrics by Al Jarreau, “Spain (I Can Recall)” appeared on the 1980 album This Time.  Now from his 2009 DVD Live at Last, Stevie Wonder and co do a rousing version of this classic composition. The song begins with Victoria Theodore on keyboards then joined by Stevie on chromatic harmonica. After each member of the band takes a verse for a solo then they joins into the mix as one pack of stellar musician in nearly 12 minute live performance. What a great version of this rendition with so much musical talent in here. (nDy)
