FLIP were formed in the mid 1980’s in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire by singer also song-writers Tony Duke and Frank Walsh. Both of them had played in various bands going back to the mid 1970’s, usually in support slots during the height of the punk era. Duke and Walsh later emerged with a new band and line up that included Gary Duke, Andy Kinch and Tristian Batory. The band became Flip in 1984 and signed to Arista Records, recording an album ‘Flip’ on ‘Private I’ records. The band enjoyed success overseas and made appearances on various TV shows in Europe. FLIP split in 1987, both Duke and Andy are still producing excellent music. (nDy)
