Sofie – I Love You

4bSofie Therèse Verbruggen started her musical career, as so many Flemish artists did in those days, by gaining a big prize at “Ontdek-de-Ster” (Discover the Star) contest in 1973. Then she is best known for her stage name, also her first name, Sofie. Born in Antwerp in 1956 in a musical family, her grandmother being Mina Bolotine, director of the Antwerp Opera House. In 1975 she joined the disco-formation Trinity and enjoyed quite a lot of success with them. She searched own solo way in music bizz and scored a big hit with one of the most beautiful ballads ever to come out of Belgium in 1982, “I Love You”. Then she took part as runner up in the Belgian pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, also again in 1987 took part in the Belgian pre-selections for Eurovision Song Contest but ended up in sixth place. All through the eighties she continued to record music without having big hits. In 1993, she formed a live-band “So Four” and recorded an album So Far So Good, included a new version of I Love You. We always love you, Sofia

Lewat balada sederhana karya komposer Belanda, Roan Malister, berjudul I Love You di tahun 1982. Terbukti lewat sambutan hangat rekaman konser tunggal So Far So Good tahun 1993, berikut melantunkan tembang andalan lewat aransemen baru, I Love You. (nDy)
